Singapore: Day 35

Today was the long awaited day-- our trip to Phuket, Thailand! Unfortunately, I was in a crunch with my essays and missed class that morning to finish and submit the papers. We left for Changi airport at 12:30 PM. It was strange being in the airport again, because the last time I was there was when I had arrived in Singapore for the very first time. Now it is more than a month later and I am making a trip to Thailand. It felt so surreal!

Our plane... goodbye, Singapore!
The flight was only a little over an hour, and soon we landed in Phuket. The view from the plane was amazing: unlimited stretches of green amidst fog. I have never seen such untouched land other than our day trip to Pulau Ubin.

View of Phuket from the plane. So much green!

On the way to Bodega Bay
Batong
We were staying at Batong, a hotel in Bodega Bay. The rooms were very nice; the girls paired up (I with Laney and Emily with Nicole), while Angelo roomed separately. Because we arrived in the late afternoon, we only went for dinner and explored Batong.
Bodega Beach at night
The group and I didn't venture too far for dinner-- we wanted to stay within Bodega Bay. After exploring the area, we decided on a restaurant by the seashore; it was bustling, so we assumed that the food must be very good. We ordered juices and several dishes, all to our delight. I ordered a papaya juice, and it was the sweetest and most delicious fruit juice I've had! The food dishes were also very good, definitely much better than their Thai-American counterpart back in the states.
Delicious papaya drink
Pad thai
Pineapple fried rice

Duck wrapped in bamboo leaves!

Crab! We wanted to try seafood in Thailand
After dinner, we continued exploring for a bit. Something worth noting was the size of the seafood here-- they were much larger than what we've seen before. We were definitely shocked!
The biggest lobster we've ever seen
The biggest prawns we've ever seen too...
Hilarious street sign
Eventually, we stumbled upon a Watsons store and made a few necessary purchases. Because the drinking water in Thailand isn't safe for our westernized digestive system, we bought a couple large bottles of water to drink and use to brush our teeth. I also bought mosquito repellant, as I couldn't bring the one I had in Singapore due to the liquids requirement for the flight. After our purchases, we went back to our hotel, had a few drinks, and checked out for the night.
