After more than 19 hours of travel, I finally arrived in Singapore early afternoon yesterday! The plane's descent into the country exemplified how beautiful this place is, and I was excited to come to know this country. Singapore is lush with nature yet urban with its daring skyscrapers and bustling port... my home for two months!

Yesterday, a group of us from Berkeley met up at Singapore's Changi Airport and shared taxis to the National University of Singapore, specifically Prince George's Park Residences (PGPR). We thought we could handle the heat, but as soon as we stepped out of the taxi and proceeded to check-in, we had a change of mindset. The weather is extremely hot and humid as we are located on the equator, but it has a nostalgic feel of happy childhood summers spent in China and Hong Kong, which makes the layers of sweat a bit more bearable for me. After settling down and showering, we made a trip to Clementi Market and Food Centre for necessities (shampoo, hangers, converters, etc.) and groceries. It was only a short bus ride from NUS and gave us the opportunity to explore Singapore!

All of a sudden, it started pouring! |

I found the food system to be really interesting. There were many booths of many different types of food: Chinese, Indonesian, Indian, Thai, etc. and they were also very cheap. I had my first meal here for only $3!

After the shopping trip, I went back to my room, took a much needed shower, and knocked out for 10+ hours. It was definitely a tiring flight and first day, but I can't wait for the adventures and experiences to come! :)
